I feel like it makes us less self conscious about our looks and life viewed from others. I'm NOT saying we have to be pretty and skinny. Because I don't think of myself as either. I am saying however that we shouldn't be couch potatoes. Some of us are full time students on the go at all times, some are mothers, some just super busy. And that isn't being lazy. That's being active.
But when we exercise we get our own little satisfaction, like "wow! I can do that! And I feel great!" If we know we are doing our best, we usually don't care what others think. We become self conscious when we think we are not doing enough. (Not being good enough.)
All of us are at different levels in our exercise. I am not what is considered "skinny", but I still eat less than my limited calories. I still run two miles and do P90X everyday. I know I am doing my best and that is what matters. I shouldn't care what others think of me even if I do eat 2 extra brownies.
Couldn't the same thing be said about being Christians? We are all at different levels in our walk with Jesus. And if we know we are doing what God wants us to do, then who CARES what the world thinks? This world is going to pass away anyways. Once we stop letting others' opinions affect our judgement, we can effectively serve Christ the way he planned for us to.
And when God says "You can do this!" when given a duty, you should be thankful God has chosen you, you should say "Yes I can!" for with Christ, all things are possible. We know we are nothing without God, but we HAVE Him! We think we are not good enough, but Jesus thinks we are to die for! That is where we get our true satisfaction.
