Have you ever seen the picture that says "Dear girls, dressing immodestly is like rolling around in manure. Yes you'll get attention, but mostly from pigs. Sincerely, Real Men." ?
This is true. We should dress how we want to be addressed. We want to be respected, and not degraded or approached upon. Seriously ladies, do we want to date let alone marry a man who was first attracted to us by certain body parts we enhanced through immodest clothing? Another thing is we should be glorifying GOD. And do you think that dressing immodestly is the way?
Let's name a few points as to why dressing MODESTLY is important:
“I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.”
1 Peter 3:3-5
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful.”
I hope we can ALL have this New Years Resolution, to dress modestly.
Happy 2015,
Megan
This is true. We should dress how we want to be addressed. We want to be respected, and not degraded or approached upon. Seriously ladies, do we want to date let alone marry a man who was first attracted to us by certain body parts we enhanced through immodest clothing? Another thing is we should be glorifying GOD. And do you think that dressing immodestly is the way?
Let's name a few points as to why dressing MODESTLY is important:
- How we dress on the outside reflects who we are on the inside. I'm not saying that you’re a “bad Christian” or weak in your faith if you dress immodestly, or that if you dress modestly it makes you a better Christian. We’re not saved because of the way we dress. --- However, consider this: how does it affect your witness of your faith if you wear short, tight shorts, clinging or low-cut tops, or clothing that reveals your underwear? We should honor God with our bodies, because as his baptized children we are not our own. The way we dress should make it clear that we respect our made-in-God’s-image bodies and the God who made us. We should also dress in a way that reflects our respect for our brothers in Christ. When we dress modestly, we are serving them and in doing so, serving the Lord.
- Your body does not belong to ONLY you. It belongs to God, and eventually will belong also to your future spouse. If you’re married, your body already does belong to your husband or wife. Even if you never get married, other people around you certainly will, and they should only see their spouse, not you or anyone else, in any state of undress. (See Matthew 19:4-6 and 1 Corinthians 6:12)
- Why would we want to wear clothing that could encourage inappropriate and sinful thoughts? I wouldn't want my husband, father, sons, or father in-law surrounded by immodestly dressed women.
- Dressing immodestly won't make you more beautiful or attractive than you already are.
“I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.”
