As teens I know its hard to express gratitude towards others. I know its hard to just sit down, take your parents by the hands and say "Thank you!" but don't you know how much that would touch them? How much joy that would bring to their hearts?
We don't usually think to tell our siblings thank you. Thank them for being so protective of you in school, thank them for sharing their most valuable possession with you. Thank them for loving you. As teenagers we can't even think of thanking our teachers - but we should! Thank them for spending the extra time on you and your classmates - time they don't really have to put in! Thank them for making your class fun, thank them for actually teaching you something everyday. It will make their day, trust me. Thank your friends for putting up with you - your mood swings, bad days, tantrums from the girl drama, tears from the boy drama. Thank them for always reminding you that God is in control. Those are the kind of friends that will stay with you for life. Then, Thank GOD for all of those people. Thank Him for everything - people, material things, everything. Then see how your life changes. In high school us girls see many things. Things that we wish didn't happen. As young Christian ladies we need to stay strong.
Our high school years will test us, and sometimes break us. It is hard, especially for girls, to steer clear of the wrong people. We get attached, and emotional. We are struggling with gossip, "mean girls", and appearance, but we are also dealing with boys. For some of us boys are easy to avoid physically if we have chosen to not date until we are older. For others, it is harder since relationships allow physical contact upon consent. Holding hands, snuggling, kissing, is all okay... as long as it stays under the category of purity. Anything more sexual (you know what I mean) is meant to be saved for marriage. Save yourself for your future husband. I myself have dated in high school. I am a virgin, but finding a guy who is truly trying to stay pure is hard. Sure there are Christian guys in high school, especially in a small town like mine, but come on. They are guys. Not to say all guys are "pigs", but it is really hard to find a good one. We need to be careful who we choose to date, or become boyfriends with. It can be risky business counting on another person besides yourself to keep your self in check. Also ladies, if you think this isn't the problem, but peer pressure is, don't let the pressure crush you. It is a beautiful, and attractive thing to be pure. "Doing it", doesn't make you any cooler, it just means that guys might think if they have a chance dating you, they might have a chance getting "with you". Be careful. Remember 1Timothy 4:12 and have a very blessed day! |
